The Rod Ryan Show is a Ford monster truck owned by FELD Motorsports and sponsored by the radio show of the same name. Since its creation in 2010, the truck has competed primarily in almost every Monster Jam event held exclusively in Houston and has also been campaigned by various chassis under various teams. Various drivers have also driven the truck, with Rod Ryan himself driving the truck on select occasions.
History[]
The Rod Ryan Show was created in 2010 and made its official debut on January 9 of that year in Houston. At the time of its debut, it was run on The Destroyer chassis, with Dan Evans driving. Evans would again run The Rod Ryan Show the following year. The year after that, it was run on the El Matador chassis with Daron Basl driving.
The Rod Ryan Show received an updated paint scheme for the 2013 season and was run on the Blue Thunder chassis. Evans would again drive the truck for one show, with Daron's twin brother Aaron driving the truck for the third Houston event. Meanwhile, Rod Ryan himself would drive the truck exclusively for one of the three events that year. The truck would again be run on the Blue Thunder chassis the following season, with Ryan serving as the primary driver of the truck. Meanwhile, Evans would drive for the first Houston event of the season.
In 2015, The Rod Ryan Show received a new burgundy paint scheme. The name would be run by BJ Johnson on his Mohawk Warrior chassis in January and was then run on the Zombie Hunter chassis under Lee O’Donnell in February. The Rod Ryan Show received another new paint scheme the following year, as it was campaigned by George Balhan on his Mohawk Warrior chassis that January. While the truck did not compete in the February show (Which also served as part of that year’s Fox Sports 1 Championship Series), it would be used as part of a backflip stunt, being run on the Max-D Stunt chassis under Tom Meents.
The Rod Ryan Show would receive yet another new paint scheme for the 2017 season. It was themed after the American flag, with blue star flames and red and white stripes flowing across the side panels. It would compete in a points series for the first time, being run on the Razin Kane chassis under Buddy Tompkins in January, and the Brutus chassis under Brad Allen in February. Later that year, The Rod Ryan show received another new paint scheme, which was created to honor the victims of Hurricane Harvey. It would again be run on the Brutus chassis under Allen in October.
In 2018, The Rod Ryan Show would receive yet another new design. It would be run on the Barbarian chassis under Devin Jones in January on Stadium Tour 4, and on the Stone Crusher chassis under Steve Sims in February on Tour 1. For the October Houston show, the truck received an all-new Breast Cancer Awareness paint scheme, as well as a new Dodge Ram body style. It would also be run on the Kamikaze chassis under Paul Jensen.
Another new paint scheme was created for The Rod Ryan Show for the 2019 season, being dual-sided. The right side would honor the Houston Police Department, with the contrary side honoring the Fire Department. That year, it would run on the Saigon Shaker chassis under Ryan Disharoon in January on Stadium Tour 2, and on the Over Bored chassis under Jamey Garner in February on Tour 3. The Breast Cancer Awareness body would return for that year’s October shows, being run on the Hurricane Force chassis under Steven Thompson.
Yet another new paint scheme was created for The Rod Ryan Show in 2020, being red with flame decals flowing across the side panels. It would again be run on the Over Bored chassis under Jamey Garner in January on Tour 1, and on the Saigon Shaker chassis, this time under Rod Schmidt in February on Tour 3.
The Rod Ryan Show would not compete in any of the Houston events scheduled throughout 2021, primarily due to budget cuts by FELD Entertainment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The name made its return to competition in 2022, running on the Axe chassis under Preston Pérez on Stadium Tour yellow. It would also receive a new black paint scheme that year. The truck returned for the 2022 Houston October show, with Todd LeDuc driving the truck on Blue Thunder.
In 2023, the body is run on Axe again, this time under Joe Foley for the Stadium Tour Blue stop. The truck was also ran on Velociraptor for the Stadium Tour Red stop, driven by Travis Mowery. The body ran on Brutus in Houston in October, driven by Chris Koehler.
In 2024, Michael Pagliarulo was originally slated to run the truck on Kraken for the East Stadium Championship Series, but would be run by Matt Pagliarulo on Jester during the first Houston show as Kraken was having issues. However, Kraken would run the body for the Sunday show. The West Stadium Championship Series had David Olfert driving the truck on Velociraptor. In October, Chris Koehler drives the truck again. Houston was not listed for any of Monster Jam's stadium tours until October.
In 2025, the truck will run on Axe on the East Stadium Tour for two events with Joe Foley as the driver.
