Sugar and Spice were a pair of North American black bears owned by Fred Shafer and his wife. They were the inspiration behind Fred’s truck, Bear Foot when he couldn’t think of a name for his truck.

When Fred began driving, Sugar and Spice weighed 75 pounds each. Sugar (Female) weighed 350 pounds and Spice (Male) weighted 550 pounds. Each had about a 60-inch waist. They’ve both since passed away, although it’s not known when.
