He is well known for his aggressive driving style, which has won him multiple events in the past.

History[]

Steven drove his first monster truck at just 14 years old, but only as a test run. At 16, Steven got his start at competition with a mud racer called Young Mud, before transitioning to monster trucks.

In 2012, the 19 year old Steven Sims made his monster truck competition debut with Hooked, which is designed by Steven himself. This truck served as the teammate to his father's truck Stone Crusher.

In 2013, he made his Monster Jam debut however, due to him having to go to college, he wasn't able to drive at a few shows in his supposed first full season. Bryan Wright was then hired by the team to drive for Steven's missed events. Steven also took the truck to the Monster Jam World Finals 14 Young Guns Shootout.

Until 2014, Sims and Wright shared the wheel of Hooked. The former would take the truck to its second YGS appearance.

In 2015, Sims took over Hooked entirely after Wright moved to Backwards Bob. Sims competed with Hooked at the 2015 Fox Sports 1 Championship Series and at the Young Guns Shootout once again. Sims also drove Doom's Day on his Hooked chassis for the Path of Destruction tour.

In 2016, he left Monster Trucks Ltd. and moved to FELD Motorsports. He was placed behind the wheel of Pirate's Curse and competed on the 2016 Fox Sports 1 Championship Series. He then took Pirate's Curse to the Monster Jam World Finals 17 Double Down Showdown. In New Weston, Ohio, he drove his dad's truck.

In 2017, he was absent for most of the season. He made some appearances in overseas shows under different trucks like the purple Mohawk Warrior in Saudi Arabia, before announcing a full schedule in Mutant during the summer.

In 2018, he served as another fill in driver, driving Scooby-Doo! after original driver Haley Gauley temporarily stepped away from driving. He also made his first Monster Jam World Finals appearance driving this truck. He went silent once again a couple months after the World Finals, before being placed in Monster Energy in December.

In 2019, he would drive Monster Energy on the Monster Jam International Tour. He also drove Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia.

In 2021, he runs Stone Crusher and Hooked for the spring and summer.

In 2022, he drove Stone Crusher at his hometown show for Monsters on the Beach in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He also drove Stone Crusher in New Orleans, Sunrise, Florida & the Back To School Bash in Charlotte.

In 2023, he drove Hooked for the Monsters on the Beach shows and swept the entire 2nd show. He drove Hooked again in Delmar, Delaware & for the Back To School Bash in Charlotte. He drove Stone Crusher in Bridgeport, making his Monster Jam return for the first time in over a year.
