Monster Trucks Wiki

Spike Unleashed (also known simply as Spike) is a 2004 custom Chevrolet S-10 3D Siberian husky concept monster truck owned by Team Scream Racing out of Columbus, Michigan. The truck serves as the first of two sister trucks to Brutus, alongside Mega Bite. The truck first competed on the original Brutus chassis from 2007-2015, being driven by various drivers including Rich Hilgendorf and Cory Rummell. After the latter driver began driving Rage in 2015, Spike has been used as a backup truck for the team, competing on various chassis to this day. The word ''Unleashed'' is no longer used on the truck.

History[]

Spike Unleashed made its debut on November 19, 2005, alongside Wrecking Crew at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana with Chris Bergeron driving the truck on his Brutus chassis.

In 2007, the truck began competing full time with Rich Hilgendorf driving. At the Indianapolis Jamboree in 2007, Chris Bergeron drove the truck again.

In 2010, the truck's tailgate was used on Brutus for Monster Jam's November event in Minneapolis.

In 2011, Spike received a special Breast Cancer Awareness design, with the collar and logo being recolored pink. Hilgendorf would later step away from driving the following year, and rookie driver Jeff Anderson took over the driving duties. Brad Allen drives the truck in Quebec City, Quebec.

Spike would be temporarily shelved for the 2013 season, as the chassis would temporarily be used to run Mega Bite.

The truck would return for the 2014 season, with Cory Rummell taking over as the full-time driver. The collar, logo and eye color on the truck would also be recolored green.

2015 marked Spike's final year of full-time competition, as the chassis would be converted into Rage, which Rummell began driving full-time. Since then, Spike has competed on various Team Scream chassis for select shows.

Spike would compete on and off the Rage chassis throughout the 2017 season. One notable appearance in the season was at an event in Englishtown, New Jersey.

Throughout the 2018 season, Spike competed on the Brutus chassis, with Chris Koehler driving. The truck would also compete on the Wrecking Crew/Axe chassis for events throughout Canada, and would also be displayed on the Avenger chassis for one occasion.

In 2021, Spike competed in the O'Reilly Outlaw Nationals event at Miami, Oklahoma in June, competing on the Brutus chassis.

In 2024, Spike made its return after a hiatus since 2022. Chris Koehler drove the truck for certain summer shows.
