Spellcaster was a 1941 Willy's Pro Stock Truck monster truck owned by War Wizard Racing. It served as the short-lived teammate to War Wizard during the start of the 2006 Monster Jam season. It was driven by TG Short, as well as Deric Evans, who filled in for Short following his abrupt retirement due to a back injury. Spellcaster's time in competition would be very short, and was retired after only three weeks of competition.

History[]

Spellcaster made its debut on January 7, 2006 at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, MI with TG Short driving. Short would drive the truck in both the Pontiac and Atlanta events before abruptly retiring due to a back injury. As a result, Deric Evans would serve as a fill-in driver for the event in Tampa. This would also be the truck's final event in competition, as Spellcaster would be quietly retired afterwards, due to the lack of a full-time driver. The truck would eventually be sold to Men of Sin City Racing out of Las Vegas, NV the following year, who converted the truck into the second Sin City Crusher under Darren Cox.

Trivia[]

  • Spellcaster was originally slated for a 2006 diecast release by Hot Wheels, but would never be finished.
  • Spellcaster was originally planned to appear as a display as part of the Monster Jam World Finals VII pit party along with its teammate, but the plans never came to fruition due to the truck already being retired by that point.
  • Spellcaster never competed in the freestyle competition in any of the three events it competed in.
    • To add to that, Spellcaster only competed in racing in only two of the three events it competed in. The truck competed in qualifying in the Atlanta show, but was unable to compete in racing, due to a four-link bar breaking following its qualifying match against Avenger.
  • Originally, War Wizard Racing held a contest to name the new teammate truck. The rules stated that the name had to include the word "Wizard" in the name suggestion. Despite the rules, the winning name was chosen to be "Spellcaster".
  • Spellcaster was the shortest ran truck at only 3 weeks, besides trucks that only ran one show.
