Samson 1 was the first Samson monster truck. Originally created by Don Maples out of Huntsville, Alabama in 1983, the truck competed under his ownership until being sold off to Dan Patrick in 1988.

Samson was originally built in 1983 by Don Maples. At the time of its debut, the truck originally featured a 1984 Chevrolet Silverado body style, and featured a red paint scheme. This truck would run for many United States Hot Rod Association events.
Dan Patrick era (1988-1990)[]

Maples sold his second chassis, along with the entirety of the operation, to Dan Patrick out of Circleville, Ohio.
Golden State Promotions (1991)[]
By 1991, Samson 1's chassis was sold off to Seth Doulton. Robert Parker would drive the truck at the Seattle Kingdom.
