Ronald Eugene Bachmann (also known as Lyrch or The Big Man) (October 29th, 1961-August 30th, 2018) was a monster truck driver out of St. Louis, Missouri. He was known for driving Bigfoot 6 for international events & Bigfoot 12, he also drove the Mac Tools Bigfoot.
Early life/career[]
Ron grew up in South County, Missouri, and graduated in 1980 from Lindbergh High School, where he excelled in athletics. He earned a full scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a member of the Cornhusker football team that included an opportunity to play in the 1983 Orange Bowl, in which the Cornhuskers beat the LSU Tigers 21-20.
He was a well-known ambassador for Bigfoot 4X4 throughout his distinguished career. In the latter part of the 80's, Ron found himself as a notable crew guy within the newly founded sport of monster truck racing.
In 1988, Ron became the first person to travel internationally with a monster truck, going to Tokyo, Japan.
In 1993, with a partnership with Firestone, Team Bigfoot pulled together and designed a truck that would be larger than life, just like its driver. Bigfoot 12 debuted that year and Ron would spend the rest of his career in the truck.
Death[]
On August 30th, 2018, Ron died of an apparent heart attack. He was buried in Jerseyville, Illinois.[1]
