Rollin' Thunder was a diesel powered 1972 Dodge Tradesman van monster truck owned and driven by Jim Oldaker out of Redondo Beach, California. This truck is one the earliest diesel monster trucks, although was not the first.

History[]

1985[]

Rollin' Thunder was featured in Battle of the Monster Trucks.

1986[]

The truck made appearances in Return of the Monster Trucks, and War of the Monster Trucks.

The original truck was sold to a man in Japan, who scrapped it.

"I had [put] $60,000 into the original truck. I built it and the hauler all myself. I didn't see the point in spending the money to build a new truck with all the technology it would need to be competitive. A guy in Japan wanted to buy the original, so I sold it to him." –Jim Oldaker[1]

A second Rollin Thunder was built by another team with Oldaker’s approval, but only ran very briefly.

2013[]

The name would be used by Jim Bendzick before said truck was renamed to Thunder 4X4.

Currently, Terry Woodcock of Freedom Racing is building a replica of the truck.
