Rampage is a Dodge Ram monster truck owned by Triple B Motorsports. The truck was originally created by Bear Foot creator Fred Shafer in 1995 and driven by Ken Deppe and Todd Frolik on the Bear Foot 11. Richard Patterson bought the name and truck in 1997 after Fred’s retirement, before being sold to Paul Shafer Motorsports in 2002 and ran until 2008. On January 27th, 2022, the truck along with every PSM owned truck was sold to James Trantina III of Triple B Motorsports who debuted his version of Rampage on July 7th, 2023.

History[]

Fred Shafer era (1995-1997)[]

1995[]

Rampage was built as the successor to the Dodge Express monster truck and served the same role as the secondary truck for the Bear Foot team. The truck would debut on the Bear Foot 11 chassis. The truck would mainly compete in the PENDA Points Series as a means of having both Bear Foot trucks compete together without being able to share the same name.

1996[]

Rampage would run on the Bear Foot 13 chassis for this year. The truck finished 4th in the PENDA Points Series.

Richard Patterson era (1997-2002)[]

1997[]

After the Dodge partnership ended, combined with Fred’s old age, led to him selling off his trucks. Richard and Shirley Patterson would purchase the Bear Foot 11 chassis and the Rampage name, while Paul Shafer would buy the second Rampage/Bear Foot 13 chassis later in the year along with the Bear Foot operation. Rampage would never be run on the Bear Foot 13 chassis after Paul Shafer’s acquisition. From the time they first owned the truck, the Patterson's had a working relationship with Paul Shafer, often running Shafer's bodies/names at various events rather than the Rampage name. The chassis would run as Bear Foot at all USHRA events and many independent shows as well, usually not running the Rampage name unless Bear Foot was also in attendance.

Paul Shafer Motorsports era (2002-2008)[]

2002[]

The Patterson's would sell their Rampage to Paul Shafer, who already owned the former second chassis. Charlie Miller drove it primarily under Paul Shafer Motorsports after the sale.

2007-2010's[]

2007 would mark the final year of Rampage competing under Paul Shafer Motorsports. The truck would be parked inside Paul Shafer's shop where it would remain in storage until being scrapped in the 2010's due to its old age and excessive chassis damage. Its engine currently sits in a restored Mud Patrol and the truck's body panels are still intact.

Triple B Motorsports era (2022-present)[]

2022[]

On January 27th, the name and truck would be sold to James Trantina III.

2023[]

On July 7th, Trantina debuted his version. The design is inspired by the purple design ran by Paul Shafer in the early 2000's. The truck debuted on the former RFC Lone Wolf chassis at the Outlaw Monster Truck Drags in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania with Tommy Varilone behind the wheel.

2024

Alden Blythe starts driving the truck late in the year.
