Monster Trucks Wiki

Pure Adrenaline (originally named Pure Adrenalin') was a Ford F-150 (formerly a Ford F-250 Super Duty) monster truck owned by Randy Brown out of Camden, North Carolina. Randy debuted the truck in 2000 and drove Pure Adrenaline until 2003 when he joined Team Grave Digger. Afterwards, several other drivers would take over the duties as the identity was ran on and off over the years.

Randy built the truck to compete primarily in the ProMT series, however, he did not have his MTRA license upon entering the series. Gary Porter was asked to drive the truck until Randy got the license. This favor from Gary, along with Camden, NC being close to the Grave Digger shop in Kill Devil Hills would be how Randy would get involved more with Monster Jam, as the team began competing with Monster Jam starting in 2001 and would eventually result in Randy Brown driving for Grave Digger starting in 2003.

Randy still owns the name, but has not run it since 2012, and likely does not plan to. It also ran as the B-truck to his Grave Digger's for a while. He has stated he would like to run the name when he retires, similar to what Gary Porter did with Carolina Crusher between 2015 and 2017.

History[]

1998[]

Randy Brown commissions Dan Patrick to build a chassis that would become Pure Adrenaline.

2000[]

Pure Adrenaline makes its debut at the Darlington Raceway. Gary Porter drives the truck because Randy did not have a special license required to race at the time.

2003[]

Randy joins the Grave Digger team and Frank Krmel takes over the driving duties.

2004[]

Frank moves to Demolition Man and Carl Van Horn becomes the new driver, getting a stadium racing victory in Minneapolis. Carl crashes the truck after the win, resulting in Pure Adrenaline receiving an updated Ford F-150 body style In March, Carl moves to Power Forward and Frank returns to the seat after Demolition Man is retired.

In the off-season, Chad Tingler becomes the new driver for the truck for the rest of the year. In August, the truck was sponsored by, and run as Mobile Hunting & Camping Supply in Mobile. Pure Adrenaline also receives one last body change, with the truck returning to a purple colour.

2005[]

The Pure Adrenaline chassis is sold to Sudden Impact Racing and becomes Traxxas T-Maxx truck for the 2005 season. The Pure Adrenaline name is temporarily shelved during this time, although a Hot Wheels toy is released during this year, featuring a radically different body design.

2007[]

The Pure Adrenaline name is brought back by Steve Sims, who runs the name on a white Chevrolet body as a teammate to Stone Crusher. Carl Van Horn would drive the truck in Charlottesville while Steve drove Stone Crusher.

In April, the chassis is converted into Mopar Magic, resulting in the Pure Adrenaline name being shelved once again.

2009[]

Pure Adrenaline returns to competition once again, running on the former Mountaineer chassis. The truck sports a new Ford F-150 body design and uses the paint scheme of the 2005 Hot Wheels release. Ricky Brantley first drives the truck throughout January, also running the chassis as Bob & Tom at the end of the month.

In February, Carl Van Horn becomes the new full-time driver for the remainder of the season. After the World Finals in March, Chris Baker drives Pure Adrenaline until the end of May, after which the name is retired for a third time.

2010[]

Pure Adrenaline makes one appearance at the beginning of January at the Monster Freestyle Nationals event in Charlotte. Steve Sims runs the name on the Stone Crusher chassis.

2012[]

Pure Adrenaline is brought back for the final time as of now for three shows in Naples, Florida, running on the original Stone Crusher chassis, driven by Morgan Kane, and using the blue, undecorated Stone Crusher body.

The name was brought out due to the fact that Steve Sims was also in attendance driving his Stone Crusher truck, so as to not have a duplicate name running at the event. During the first competition on Friday night, Morgan went on to win racing, defeating Frank Krmel in Advance Auto Parts Grinder.

Trivia[]
