N-GAGE was a Ford monster truck owned and operated by Clear Channel Entertainment (now FELD Motorsports) that competed in Antwerp, Belgium, for only three shows in September 2004. Chad Fortune was its sole driver, and campaigned the body as one of a few interim identities between the chassis' history as Advance Auto Parts Metal Monster (a display truck) and Superman (Fortune's second major identity). The truck was sponsored by the Nokia phone and video game console of the same name. No statistics regarding the truck's success in competition have been recorded. It was not even mentioned on the show's results page on the official Monster Jam website, but it reportedly made it to the final round of racing, losing to Charlie Pauken in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

History[]

It is not known why exactly N-GAGE ran this Antwerp show, but a possible reason could be the fact that N-GAGE served as sponsorship for the event as well as Nokia Belgium having its headquarters in Antwerp and having a few stores in the city. The N-GAGE console was already a year old by the time the event took place.

While the European market gave the monster truck world several limited-run sponsor trucks, such as Verva, BiFi, and The Mauler, N-GAGE – thus far – is the only truck to have come about as a last-minute replacement. Fortune was booked at the Antwerp show to drive Hot Wheels, which he drove for the rest of his time on the 2004 Europe tour. In odder details, Fortune’s chassis was already equipped with several of his future truck Superman’s defining features, such as the cape’s support beam, and the truck’s yellow rims, which would be placed on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the time being, as they did not match N-Gage's design. Ironically, TMNT would end up beating N-GAGE in the final round of racing.

Trivia[]

  • Nokia N-GAGE is one of only three trucks to have exclusively competed in an international Monster Jam event. The other two being BiFi and Verva.
    • The former truck would also later compete in Belgium with Chad Fortune.
