Monster Trucks Wiki

Mopar Magic was a 2003 Dodge Ram monster truck owned by Monster Trucks Unlimited and driven predominantly by Ricky Ownley. The truck was originally created after the team acquired the original Mopar Magic (previously created by original Stone Crusher owner Gary Wiggins) from Jack Brady, and served as the original teammate to Stone Crusher from 2007 until its retirement in late 2011, when it was rebranded as Monster Magic.

History[]

Mopar Magic was created under Monster Trucks Unlimited in 2007, when team owner Steve Sims acquired the name from previous owner Jack Brady. Sims would also acquire the chassis used by Brady's truck, which was the original Mopar Magic (Wiggins) truck that was nuilt by Gary Wiggins in 1987, and would be converted into the Stone Crusher ride truck.

Mopar Magic began competition later in the spring of 2007 as the initial successor to Pure Adrenaline, with the original driver/owner of the name, Gary Wiggins behind the wheel. The truck would enter its first full year of competition the following year. Gary retired at the end of the year.

In 2008, Ricky Ownley was drafted in as the new driver and would become the predominant driver of the truck. Prior to this, Ownley's only driving experience was in 2003 when he drove Grave Digger as a fill-in for Dennis Anderson in Houston. The truck and Ownley would get their first televised appearances in Atlanta, and would win the wheelie competition in Greenville in the 3rd show. Lionel Easler drove the truck in Ocala, Florida on Sunday.

In 2010, the truck made it to the final round in New Orleans however, would flip over during the race. Ownley retired from driving, which led to Chris Baker taking over, before Morgan Kane later took over as the full-time driver. Carl Van Horn would also drive the truck for select events. Scott Hartsock drove the truck in Paducah, and Cliff Thomas drove the truck in Columbia.

In 2011, Bryan Wright would drive it at Wildwood on Sunday filling in for Morgan, and also at the truck's final event at Hampton, Virginia on November 11-12th.

Due to copyright issues with Chrysler, the truck was later rebranded as Monster Magic, which would run until 2012. Said truck would also receive a new chassis, as the previous was eventually sold to Ryan Caputo the following year and converted into The Ripper.
