Max-D XX (also called Max-D 20th Anniversary) was a special version of Maximum Destruction that commemorated the truck's 20th anniversary throughout the 2023 season and was run by Tom Meents on Stadium Series Red. After not being able to freestyle in the Foxborough, MA Stadium Tour Red finale, Tom and the truck would finish third in the series points. Tom would later be invited to World Finals 22, which would be the truck's final event.
History[]
The paint scheme for Max-D XX was created by Starr Creations.
The truck was speculated by fans to potentially attempt a stunt for the World Finals XXII encore, but that never came to be. Instead, it featured Tom's son Colton Eichelberger driving ThunderROARus on a Meents chassis jumping over a line of trucks at the start of the racing competition.
The truck was unable to compete in its first show at Oakland due to the engine blowing in intros. The same thing would happen over in San Diego with Ryan Disharoon's Shaker. Unlike Oakland, however, due to San Diego having a second show scheduled, Shaker was able to compete in it.
Tom won racing in Minneapolis at show 2 over Adam Anderson. It was his first racing win since Kansas City in June of 2021. After the win, Tom gave an emotional tribute to his dad Bill, who passed away days prior.
On October 9th, Tom was revealed to be a competitor for the Monster Jam Superstar Challenge on Team Nitro. The Max-D XX name would be retired at the World Finals as Meents would drive Max-D Nitro for the Superstar Challenge, and he is not scheduled for any more events after said show.
In 2024, the scheme would briefly return on a CRD chassis driven by Colton Eichelberger for the Miami shows.
Design[]
The special body is a black version of the original "Futuristic SUV" with lava and fire engulfing the truck. The truck features the iconic Maximus face on the hood of the truck and the back of the truck features a throwback to the original Max-D scheme with the "On a Mission" dashboard.
