Kirk Dabney (born February 14th, 1959) is a retired monster truck driver out of Milton, Florida who owned and drove various monster trucks from 1984-2014 including: Blue Thunder, Thunder Beast, Undertaker, Bulldozer, Mega Force, Giant, Nitemare, Grim Reaper, Wild Card, USA-1, Thunderstruck, Monster Patrol and Overkill. He is the brother of Kevin Dabney. He is also the owner of Ford RAPTOR. Kirk is known as an innovator in the monster truck industry.

Career[]

In 2000, Kirk ran Bear Foot on his Extreme Overkill chassis.

In 2009, Kirk set the then land speed record with Maximum Overkill at 84.92 mph. The record stood for a year until Dan Runte reclaimed it in September of 2010 with a speed of 86.56 mph.

In February 2011, Kirk reclaimed the speed record with a speed of 90.44 mph, which was the first time a monster truck went over 90 miles per hour. The record stood until September 9th, when Randy Moore broke the record with a speed of 91.88 mph. Mark Hall beat the record in Austin, Texas in 2014 by going 99 mph. Bryce Kenny broke the record in 2020 for Monster Jam's Breaking World Records by going 100.3 mph. Then in 2022, Joe Sylvester broke that record by going 101.84 mph.

In 2014, Kirk was inducted into the International Monster Truck Hall of Fame, 6 years before his brother would.

  • Kirk built ORI for Paul Shafer Motorsports.
  • Kirk & Kevin got started in monster trucks by building Blue Thunder, the first monster car (monster truck).
  • Giant was over 13ft tall, which made the name an understatement. The engine was 10 inches higher so it could be seen sticking out of the hood & so fans could see more of the supercharger. The air cleaners were higher than the roof.
  • Extreme Overkill had color matched sport mirrors to give the truck a finished look.
