Monster Trucks Wiki

Ken Stout is an announcer from Brownsburg, Indiana. He is best known for being the co-commentator for Monster Jam on SPEED in the early to late 2000's alongside Scott Douglass.

Career[]

Ken began in motorsports from a young age. His father was a go-kart racer and Ken himself later started driving drag racers and motorcycles. He later began working in radio for shows such as FM Rocker in New Jersey. While living in New Jersey, Ken visited a local drag strip and asked if they were in need of an announcer and he was hired for the job. Ken soon found employment on the SPEED channel in 1999 and began working on the IHRA series as a commentator and pit reporter. At some point, Ken was contacted by Bill Easterly and was put onto Monster Jam, which had moved to SPEED from TNN in 2003. This would lead to Ken becoming the new commentator alongside Scott Douglass for Monster Jam on SPEED.

Ken made his Monster Jam SPEED debut in the broadcast of West Lebanon in 2003 and remained co-commentator for the next five years. As a result of his position, Ken would occasionally attend the shows held during the season and began attending the World Finals events, offering live commentary alongside Scott and other Monster Jam drivers. During this time, Ken still hosted other shows on SPEED such as IHRA and Lucas Oil On The Edge.

In 2007, Ken would take part in his last event as a full-time Monster Jam commentator on SPEED at World Finals VIII, after which he would be replaced by Mark Schroeder in 2008. Ken would still remain part of SPEED and would even still commentate on monster truck events such as the 4-Wheel Jamboree show in 2009.

In 2010, Ken made a return to Monster Jam and reunited with Scott Douglass to commentate the live Atlanta broadcast while Mark Schroeder served as the pit reporter. This would be Ken's last monster truck event that he commentated.

Currently, Ken is the president of his own race team, KSR Inc. (Ken Stout Racing) and hosts The Skinny with Rico Elmore.

In 2021, Ken took part in an interview on the MonsterTalk YouTube channel where he discussed his time on Monster Jam.
