Jon Zimmer Sr. (Born September 28th, 1977) is a monster truck driver out of Middlebury, Vermont. He was best known for driving Amsoil Shock Therapy, Grave Digger and Dragon. He currently drives his own truck, Uproar. Jon has driven 39 trucks, placing him 3rd all time in amount of trucks driven by a single driver. Jon also has a daughter, Briana. Career[]
Before driving, Jon raced 4-wheelers and snowmobiles. He would go to monster truck events in West Lebanon, where he met John Seasock and asked him about getting involved with trucks. Jon started by crewing for Andy Slifko in 2000.
In 2005, Jon began driving Eradicator. He also drove And More at its only show in Joliet, Illinois.
From 2005-2007, Jon drove Backdraft.
In 2007, Jon joined Sudden Impact Racing, driving T-Maxx.
In 2009, Jon won the Monster Jam Rising Star award.
In 2010, Jon moved to Amsoil Shock Therapy as the teammate to Carl Van Horn's Excaliber and drove that truck for the 2010 and 2011 World Finals. He also drove Excaliber & XXX: State Of Destruction.
In 2012, Jon joined FELD Motorsports to drive Grave Digger. He drove Shagman in Dacano. Jon also drove Captain America in San Jose and then again in Costa Rica.
In 2013, Jon drove Superman at World Finals 14 (on Wolverine for the main event). He drove Batman for an encore along with Morgan Kane in Superman in East Rutherford.
In 2014, Jon drove Doom's Day for an encore in Detroit & Syracuse, as well as the Doom's Day encore at World Finals 15.
In 2015, Jon drove the skeleton Zombie for the World Finals 16 encore.
In 2016, Jon drove Navy for the World Finals 17 military encore. Jon also drove Monster Mutt in East Rutherford.
In 2017, Jon moved to Dragon after Scott Liddycoat left. He competed on the 2017-2020 Monster Jam Stadium Tours. Also in 2017, Jon drove Grave Digger for Dennis Anderson in Anaheim and Oakland. He drove Earth Shaker in Beijing.
In 2019, Jon drove Dragon (ICE) on Stadium Tour 3. He drove El Toro Loco in Manchester.
In 2020, Jon returned to the normal Dragon body. His son Jon Zimmer Jr. made his debut, driving Terminal Velocity.
In 2021, Jon drove Over Bored, before becoming the crew chief for Terminal Velocity driven by his son, Jon Zimmer Jr..
In 2022, Jon would briefly rejoin Team Grave Digger to perform in an encore for the World Finals, driving the purple 30th anniversary truck. He also drove Dirt Crew Dozer.
In 2023, Jon drove Wild Side for a few Monster Jam shows at the end of Arena Tour Central and for some independent shows as well. Later in the year, Jon & his son would appear on an episode of Inside Monster Jam. He drove Block Head in Petoskey, Michigan. He also drove Tailgator in Owensboro, Kentucky & Amite, Louisiana.
In 2024, he debuted the brand new Uproar monster truck as part of Send It Motorsports, alongside his son in Terminal Velocity on the All Star Monster Truck Tour. He would finish in 2nd place to his son. He returned to Monster Jam for the first time in 4 years along with his son in Nashville, as well as debuting Uproar in Monster Jam for the first time. He will do other Monster Jam events in the Summer. He would win racing at show 3 in Allentown. He & his son appeared once again on Inside Monster Jam.
In 2025, he will drive Zombie on the Central arena tour. This will be the 39th truck he has driven.
