History[]
Heavy Hitter was originally created in 2010 and began competition later that year with Derick Anson behind the wheel. Over the next several years, Anson and the truck began competing in various leagues, including the Monster Truck Nationals, Monster Jam, Toughest Monster Truck Tour and the Monster X Tour. In 2013, they won the Monster X Tour East Coast championship. That same year, the team expanded to two trucks as the truck’s teammate River Rat was created.
Throughout the 2014 season, Anson and Heavy Hitter made multiple major stadium event appearances in Monster Jam. Later that year, they would be invited to compete in the Young Guns Shootout at Monster Jam World Finals XV. Heavy Hitter would again be invited to compete in the Young Guns Shootout the following year at Monster Jam World Finals XVI. That same year, the truck received an updated paint scheme, featuring an updated bulldog character on the side panels.
In 2016, the team would drop out of competing in Monster Jam and began competing in various other leagues. They would also begin competing in Monster Truck Throwdown that same year. The following year, Heavy Hitter received another updated paint scheme as well as a new teammate truck, Basher.
In 2018, Anson and Heavy Hitter won both racing and freestyle championships for Monster Truck Nationals. The following year, the truck’s chassis was repainted to run as Demo Derby for Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live. Heavy Hitter would continue to run as Demo Derby until March 2020, when Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live temporarily ceased operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Throughout the 2021 season, Heavy Hitter competed primarily in Monster Truckz. The truck would also be driven by various other drivers on select occasions, including Logan Tweedy and Vincent Akard.
In 2022, Heavy Hitter received a brand-new design as the name moved to the Basher chassis. The previous chassis would be converted into its new teammate truck, The Lugger. Chris Davis drives the truck in Madison. It's unknown if he'll drive the truck full time since Derick now drives the new Alcatraz.
In 2023, Stevie Snellen drives the truck in South Carolina. Later in the year, it is revealed that the truck, along with Alcatraz, has been sold to a stunt company, and has no plans on running again.
