Grave Digger 5 was the fifth Grave Digger chassis, and the fourth built by Dennis Anderson, which debuted in 1991. This truck is not to be confused with Pablo Huffaker's first unnumbered Grave Digger, which is sometimes misidentified as Grave Digger 5, although it actually used the fiberglass body of Grave Digger 4 on Huffaker's Jus' Show N Off chassis.

History[]

The truck was originally built as a replacement for Grave Digger 2, which had been retired after a severe crash in 1990 broke its frame rails. The new truck used a new frame and leaf-spring suspension built in similar fashion to #2 instead of the tube-frame chassis used on Grave Digger 3 as this allowed them to reuse some parts from #2.

The truck ran at shows later that year and early 1992, until being retired to Digger's Dungeon upon the completion of Grave Digger 7.

Afterwards, it was used as a display truck where fans can sit inside from the mid-1990's until at least 2007. The frame was later sold off and is believed to be owned by Chris Mormanis.

Trivia[]

  • Grave Digger 5 was the shortest-lived Grave Digger chassis, with only two years running.
  • In the 2012 Monster Jam Yearbook, the truck is listed as the correct chassis, but the timeframe that was given for this truck's time in competition was mistakenly that of Pablo Huffaker's first unnumbered Grave Digger from 1993-1995.
