Scooby-Doo! is a custom dog monster truck owned by FELD Motorsports and based on the cartoon dog of the same name. It has been driven by multiple drivers over the course of its career, with its most notable including Nicole Johnson, Bailey Shea, Brianna Mahon, Linsey Read and Myranda Cozad. Since its debut in 2013, Scooby-Doo has become both a staple and a fan favorite in Monster Jam, having competed in every Monster Jam World Finals since its introduction, even winning the Showdown and Freestyle competitions in 2019.

History[]

Scooby-Doo was first announced in late 2012 as a new truck for the 2013 Monster Jam season, with Nicole Johnson as the driver. The truck made its official debut on January 4, 2013, in Birmingham, Alabama. Johnson and the truck would later be invited to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XIV. They would again be invited to compete in the World Finals the following year, successfully attempting a backflip during the freestyle competition.

Two additional trucks were added to the team for the 2015 season, with Bailey Shea and Brianna Mahon driving. Shea would compete in the inaugural More Monster Jam Series, and would later be invited to compete in the Young Guns Shootout at Monster Jam World Finals XVI. As for both Johnson, she would compete in the main event. Mahon would also compete in the Young Guns Shootout, driving Madusa.

A fourth Scooby-Doo was added to the team for 2016, with rookie driver Linsey Reed driving. Both Mahon and Shea competed in the Monster Jam AMSOIL Series East and West, respectively. Shea would again be invited to compete in the Young Guns Shootout at Monster Jam World Finals XVII, while Mahon (Who would drive Madusa again) and Johnson would be invited to compete in the main event. Meanwhile, Brandon Vinson would drive Mahon’s truck at Monster Jam’s inaugural event in Frankfurt, Germany.

While Johnson retired from competition and Read would go on maternity leave for her daughter's birth at the start of the 2017 season, Myranda Cozad joined the team, resulting in the team being reduced to three trucks. Shea and Cozad competed in the Monster Jam Triple Threat Series East and West, respectively. Meanwhile, Mahon would compete in the FS1 Championship Series East. Mahon would be invited to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XVIII, while Shea would be invited to compete in the Double Down Showdown.

By the start of the 2018 season, Shea would leave the team following her departure from FELD Motorsports, and Mahon would move to the recently-introduced Whiplash. Cozad would compete in the Monster Jam Triple Threat Series Central, whilst Lead returned to the team to compete in the Arena Championship Series. Meanwhile, two new trucks were added to the team. The first was driven by rookie driver Haley Gauley in Stadium Championship Series 4, while the second was driven by John Gordon on the Axe chassis for Stadium Championship Series 2. Part-way through the first quarter, Steven Sims would take over the driving duties for Gauley’s truck after she stepped away from driving. Sims would win an overall event championship in Anaheim and would be invited to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XIX. Meanwhile, Read would be invited to compete in the Double Down Showdown. After the first quarter, Read would compete overseas in that year’s European tour, and Gauley would return to drive Scooby-Doo in Glendale that October after Sims moved to Monster Energy.

In 2019, Gauley would move to Wonder Woman as part of that year’s International tour, leaving Read and Cozad as the sole drivers for the team. Read would compete in the Arena Championship Series, while Cozad again competed in the Triple Threat Series Central. Read would be invited to compete in the Showdown competition at Monster Jam World Finals XX, which she would go on to win, defeating Tony Ochs in Soldier Fortune Black Ops and earning the twenty-fourth and final spot in the main field. Read would later go on to win that year’s World Freestyle Championship. Following the World Finals, Read would later be invited to compete in the inaugural All-Star Challenge in Las Vegas, where she would be drafted into Team Fire.

In 2020, Read competed in the Arena Championship Series, while Cozad competed in the Triple Threat Series West. After the entire Monster Jam season would prematurely end in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Scooby-Doo would be put into storage for the remainder of the year as Cozad would be furloughed by FELD Entertainment due to budget cuts by the company as a result of the pandemic. As for Read, she would go on to compete in the following year’s Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series. Meanwhile, Brianna Mahon would briefly return to the team to drive the truck on select occasions. Several other drivers would also drive Scooby-Doo on select occasions, such as Armando Castro in Reno and Kayla Blood in Spokane.

In 2022, Myranda returns, and runs in the Arena Championship Series West finishing 5th. She would win her first overall event championship during the series. Meanwhile, Linsey would again go on maternity leave for the season, due to her expecting her second child, which prevented her from competing during the season, and defending her freestyle championship at the World Finals, although she would appear as a judge that year. The truck would also appear at that events pit party. Myranda drives the truck for international events for the rest of the year.

In 2023, Linsey Read returns to Monster Jam and competed on Arena Series East. She finished 4th. Brittany Marcotte drove the truck in Stockholm, Sweden. Chelsea VanCleave drove the truck in Dresden, Germany. The truck made its World Finals return in Nashville in 2023. Loghan Ashline makes her debut in the truck. On the way to San Jose, the trailer with Scooby Doo & Megalodon caught fire. There were no injuries. In late October, Joe Dennis would be announced as a new driver for Monster Jam, making his debut in the truck in Nampa, Idaho.

In 2024, Linsey would temporarily leave the team to drive Lucas Stabilizer on the east stadium tour, due to Cynthia Gauthier being on maternal leave. Brianna Mahon will return to the team to take Linsey's place on Arena Championship Series Central.

Despite the same name, very similar design, and being based off of the same character, this truck has no technical relations to the Australian version of this truck, which proceeded it by six years. However, it is believed that this truck was inspired by the success and popularity of the Australian one, so FELD brought the truck into Monster Jam for the states.
  • The truck occasionally runs eyes on the windshield. Due to these being solid black, they tend to be hard to see.
  • Scooby-Doo has been driven almost exclusively by women. This is considered ironic as Scooby-Doo is a male character.
    • However, Brandon Vinson drove the truck in 2016 at the Frankfurt, Germany event, John Gordon campaigned Scooby-Doo on the Axe chassis in 2018, Steven Sims took over Hailey Gauley's driving duties, Armando Castro would drive Scooby-Doo in 2021 in Reno, Nevada, and Tim Hall Jr. in 2023 in San Jose, CA. Also in 2023, Joe Dennis would debut in Nampa, Idaho driving the truck for Monster Jam making him the sixth known male driver for the identity.
  • Scooby-Doo's theme song, "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?", was made for the 2002 live-action movie of the same name.
  • Mahon's first Scooby-Doo chassis was previously Dustin Brown's Iron Man. This version also served as Madusa on three occasions.
    • Scooby-Doo! was originally going to be retired at the end of the 2022 season, due to the original Warner Bros. expiring at its ten year mark, like every other sponsor truck from FELD Motorsports in the past. Because of so, Linsey Read was originally scheduled to drive Monster Mutt Dalmatian in 2023. However, the contract would quickly be renewed for 2023, keeping the truck from being retired.
      • This marks the second truck from FELD Motorsports with a sponsorship to have lasted for at least a decade. The first being The Rod Ryan Show.
  • Starting in 2024, the ears on top of the truck would be changed from the traditional fiberglass to inflatables. This likely due to the fact that the material used for the inflatable ears is easier to repair and cheaper to replace than the original fiberglass ones.
