Metal Mulisha was a 2008 Ford F-150 monster truck owned by FELD Motorsports and was sponsored by the clothing brand of the same name. It was originally driven by Brian Deegan and Todd LeDuc, the latter of which drove the truck to two world championships, being freestyle in 2014 and racing in 2015. It was also driven by Matt Buyten, who drove the truck during its final year of competition in 2017. Meanwhile, Metal Mulisha was a staple and fan favorite of Monster Jam throughout the course of its career, competing in every Monster Jam World Finals since its debut in 2012.

History[]

Metal Mulisha was originally first unveiled to the public at the 2011 SEMA Show at Las Vegas, Nevada in November. It was eventually announced that the truck would begin competition the following year, with Brian Deegan and Todd LeDuc as the drivers. Metal Mulisha would go on to have a strong season in its debut year, with LeDuc and the truck being invited to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XIII. LeDuc and Metal Mulisha would again have a strong season in 2013. Following Monster Jam World Finals XIV, the chassis was shipped overseas to run as Monster Energy.

The Metal Mulisha team would experience a great amount of success for the 2014 Monster Jam season, as Todd LeDuc would win the World Freestyle Championship at Monster Jam World Finals XV. LeDuc's freestyle performance would begin with the biggest leap of the night (with a hang time of approximately four seconds), as well as two successful backflips. In Foxborough, Morgan Kane drove the truck. Following the World Finals, Metal Mulisha would compete in that year's Australian tour on the Scooby-Doo chassis.

LeDuc would win another world championship in 2015, this time being in racing, defeating Ryan Anderson in Son-Uva Digger. For the Foxborough event, Lee O'Donnell would drive the truck. LeDuc and Metal Mulisha would again be invited to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XVII in 2016, and would come close to defending their title as racing champion, but ended up losing to Morgan Kane in Grave Digger. Meanwhile, Deegan would step away from driving full-time.

Metal Mulisha received a new paint scheme for the 2017 season. That same year, LeDuc would move to Monster Energy to replace Damon Bradshaw, who retired by the start of the season. Meanwhile, rookie driver Matt Buyten took over the driving duties as both truck and driver competed in Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series 4. They would ultimately finish sixth in the series standings, and would later be invited to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XVIII. 2017 would also mark the final year of competition for Metal Mulisha, as the truck was ultimately retired following the World Finals, due to the sponsorship contract ending.

Trivia[]

  • All three drivers for Metal Mulisha came from the Metal Mulisha race team. Two of them, Brian Deegan and Matt Buyten, were originally from the Metal Mulisha motocross team, with Todd LeDuc coming from the off-road racing team.
  • Brian Deegan was originally planned to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XIII, with Todd LeDuc competing in the inaugural Young Guns Shootout. However, Deegan would suffer an injury before the event, which resulted in him being unable to compete. This resulted in LeDuc competing in the main event, with Joey Parnell in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles taking LeDuc's initial spot in the Young Guns Shootout.
  • The 2017 redesign of Metal Mulisha was done due to guns being displayed on the side panels of the truck's original paint scheme, which in turn was due to FELD Entertainment (the promoter of Monster Jam) censoring firearms, as well as any connection with firearms on trucks.
  • The trucks theme, "Thats How We Roll" by Your Machine was made specifically for the truck as its theme song.
