Don Maples is a retired monster truck owner and driver out of Huntsville, Alabama. He was the original owner and driver of Samson I.

In 1983, Maples created Samson. In 1988, Maples sold the truck to Dan Patrick.
In 2022, Maples was inducted into the International Monster Truck Hall of Fame.
