Derick Anson (born December 1st, 1968) is a former monster truck owner and driver out of Louisville, Kentucky. He was the driver of Heavy Hitter and owned the racing team of the same name. Anson was a professional boxer for many years, before taking that former career and implementing it into monster trucks with Heavy Hitter, starting in 2011. Derick also owns the Basher truck, which has had several drivers over the years.
Career[]
Anson would make his competition debut in 2010 driving Dragonfly for Wildfire Motorsports in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Anson would then start driving his own identity being Heavy Hitter in 2011 competing in various independent leagues.
In 2013, Derick won the Monster X Tour championship.
In 2014, Derick began competing with Monster Jam.
From 2014-2015, Derick and his truck competed in two Young Guns Shootouts at World Finals XV and XVI.
In 2019, Derick drove Demo Derby for Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live.
In 2023, Derick debuts a new truck: Alcatraz, which is driven by Stevie Snellen. However, Derick would eventually sell his trucks to a stunt company.
In 2024, Derick drove Outlaw. In Marion, Ohio, he would unfortunately back up into his parking spot & accidently run over Paul Breaud. He was taken to the hospital & put on a ventilator as he was unable to breathe on his own. Derick would quietly retire from the sport afterwards, as confirmed by Chris Davis on Facebook.

- Derick drove No Problem! on one occasion when John Moore was recovering from a broken neck at an exhibition in Jackson, Mississippi.
