Monster Trucks Wiki

Del Scorcho (also referred to as the Del Taco Del Scorcho) was a custom Ford monster truck run by Live Nation Motorsports and sponsored by Del Taco restaurants. The truck was made to advertise the Del Scorcho hot sauce from said restaurant and ran exclusively during the 2006 season by Frank Krmel. Del Scorcho was notable for the unique flame pattern on the roof and the addition of a bed cover.

History[]

2005[]

Monster Jam partners with Del Taco and creates a competition for fans to design the new upcoming Del Taco monster truck and fire suit. A design is chosen and goes on to become Del Scorcho. The winning design was by Tim Andren.

2006[]

Del Scorcho officially debuts, running exclusively on west coast events under Frank Krmel on his former Power Forward chassis. The truck goes on to get its first and only invitation to the Monster Jam World Finals. The truck went second in freestyle and finished fourth overall with a score of 29. Del Scorcho is later retired mid-way through the year in May and its chassis goes on to be converted into Krmel's Hot Wheels truck for the 2007 season.

Trivia[]

  • This was the first truck to be designed by the fans in a contest.
  • The truck only competed in events on the west coast, with the exception of its debut event in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This is due to Del Taco only featuring restaurants on the west coast of the United States.
  • Del Scorcho made three appearances on television. These were World Finals VII, the Anaheim Around the USHRA segment and the San Diego European broadcast.
  • The truck's bed cover read 'Beyond Hot', which was the tagline of the Del Scorcho hot sauce.
  • The truck occasionally ran with flags.
  • In the 2008 Yearbook, a page spread detailed the upcoming debut of Donkey Kong, which Frank Krmel was scheduled to drive at the time. A photo of Frank sitting in the hot seat at World Finals 7 was featured on the spread, however, the Del Scorcho logo was edited out from Frank's fire suit, likely because the sponsorship had ran out.
