David Olfert (born October 24th, 1988) is a former monster truck driver out of Shaw, Oregon. He drove for Team Throttle Monster, most notably driving Velociraptor.

History[]

Prior to driving, David would serve as a crew member for drivers like Bari Musawwir and Brianna Mahon.

In 2019, David would then get his first stint at driving as a fill in driver for 2Xtreme Racing, driving Megalodon, Bounty Hunter and Jekyll & Hyde, even winning an overall event championship at a Monster Jam event at Sioux Falls, South Dakota in November of that year.

In 2020, David would move to Team Throttle Monster, and would drive Wrecking Machine and Kamikaze.

In 2021, David would begin driving a revived Jurassic Attack. In El Paso, he drove Rockwell R.E.D.

In 2022, David would make his full time first quarter Monster Jam debut, competing on Arena Tour West, winning three overall event championships and finishing 3rd overall, just above his teammate Travis Mowery in Rockwell R.E.D. Later that May, he debuted a new truck called Velociraptor at the World Finals, which David would become the full-time driver of. He would win the Arena 2 Wheels Skills award that year.

In 2023, David would compete on Arena Series West again, driving Velociraptor as the teammate to Bailey Shea's Monster Mutt Dalmatian, finishing 4th just above her. He would temporarily return to driving Jurassic Attack for a show at Redmond, Oregon.

In 2024, David would make his stadium tour debut by competing on Stadium Tour West in Monster Jam, once again driving Velociraptor. In Houston, he drove The Rod Ryan Show on Velociraptor. In March, he would be the first ever racing winner at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama after beating Grave Digger & Son-uva Digger, the latter of which David had to race twice. In Green Bay, he would fill-in for Joe Urie and Earth Shaker. David finished 10th on the West Stadium tour, and would later compete in the Last Chance Qualifying event at the World Finals, winning after beating Mike Christensen and Vendetta in the final, sealing his place at World Finals XXIII. Later that year, he drove Rockwell R.E.D. once again in Red Bluff, California, Logan, Utah and Phoenix, Arizona.

After rumors of him stepping away from driving after he was not listed for the 2025 Monster Jam season as a competitor, he would quietly announce his retirement on Instagram.

  • A comedic nickname for Olfert from fans and David himself is "Too Tall", due to his short stature at 5'1".
