Coty Saucier (Born November 1st, 1985) is a monster truck driver out of Lafayette, Louisiana, and is currently the driver of the Dragon, but is most well-known for driving Monster Energy, in which he won the 2015 Young Guns Shootout with.

Aside from racing monster trucks, he also works on and constructs trucks for Monster Jam, primarily at their headquarters in Palmetto, Florida. Saucier originally began his monster truck career by crewing for various drivers, including Lupe Soza, John Seasock and Damon Bradshaw, until he began driving Monster Energy for the 2014 season, which he drove until 2020.

Career[]

Prior to officially working with monster trucks, Saucier would originally compete in virtual monster truck events, competing in Monster Truck Madness 2.

Saucier would officially begin his monster truck career in 2007, when he began crewing for John Seasock in Batman. During Saucier's time crewing for Seasock, the team would go on to win two world racing championships back-to back. He would continue to crew for Seasock until 2010, when he began crewing for U.S. Air Force Afterburner driver Damon Bradshaw. This would become the most lucrative position during Saucier's crewing career, as he would crew for Bradshaw until the end of the 2013 season. Meanwhile, Saucier would officially begin driving monster trucks in 2012, when he drove Iron Man in Arnhem.

In 2014, Saucier entered his first full year of competition in 2014, driving a second Monster Energy. He would later be invited to compete in the Young Guns Shootout at World Finals XV, where he would make it all the way to the championship round, but lost to Mike Vaters II in Overkill Evolution.

In 2015, Saucier competed in the inaugural More Monster Jam series, where would start doing his signature move, the "stoppie" in freestyle. During the series, he would win multiple overall event championships in Des Moines, Rosemont, Providence, and Baltimore. He would ultimately finish third in the series standings and would later compete in the Young Guns Shootout at World Finals XVI. Saucier would go on to win the Young Guns Shootout, defeating Colt Stephens in New Earth Authority and earning the thirty-second and final spot in the main field. For that occasion, he would receive a new body style for his Monster Energy truck, being a 2008 Ford F-150 as a way to differentiate his truck from Bradshaw's. During his first World Finals event, Saucier would display an astonishing performance, qualifying in third place. However, he would be disqualified after red-lighting in his semi-final round race against Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger, and he would eventually finish sixth in freestyle.

In 2016, Saucier would compete on AMSOIL Series West. During the series, he won five overall event championships in Salt Lake City, Sacramento, Spokane, Portland, and Reno. Saucier would ultimately finish third again in the series standings and later competed at World Finals XVII. During the event, he would qualify in ninth place, and was eliminated again in the semi-final round of racing, this time to Todd LeDuc in Metal Mulisha. Meanwhile, he would go on to finish 27th in freestyle.

In 2017, Saucier would compete on Stadium Championship Series 3. He would continue to utilize his momentum from the AMSOIL Series, winning two racing championships in Orlando and Toronto, two freestyle championships in Tampa and St. Louis, and an overall event championship in Orlando. Saucier would go on to finish in the runner-up position in the standings, right behind Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger. He would later compete at World Finals XVIII, where he would finish as the fastest qualifier, but was disqualified after red lighting in round 3 against Tyler Menninga in Grave Digger. He would go on to finish 22nd in freestyle. Following the World Finals, Saucier began driving Mutant Super Soda alongside Todd LeDuc.

In 2018, Saucier competed on Stadium Championship Series 3. During the series, he would win the racing and Two-Wheel Skills Challenge championships at the series' opener in New Orleans and would later win the overall event championship. He would also win an additional racing championship in Tampa, a Two-Wheel Skills Challenge championship in Detroit, and an overall event championship in St. Louis. Saucier would ultimately finish third in the series standings, and later competed in World Finals XIX. During the event, he qualified sixth and was defeated in round 2 by Marc McDonald in FS1 Cleatus and would later finish 16th in freestyle. Following the World Finals, Saucier continued to drive Mutant Super Soda until the truck's discontinuation later in the season and resumed driving Monster Energy full-time.

In 2019, Saucier returned to compete on Triple Threat Series Central. During the series, he would win an overall event championship in Newark, and finish fourth in the series standings. Despite not competing at World Finals XX, he would compete in the inaugural Monster Jam All-Star Challenge in October, where he would be drafted into Team Ice. During the All-Star Challenge, Saucier was eliminated in the semi-final round of Chicago-Style racing on Friday night by Ryan Anderson in Son-Uva Digger, and would finish last in the best trick competition. However, he would go on to win the Vegas-Style racing competition on Saturday night, defeating Camden Murphy in Bakugan Dragonoid, and finished thirteenth in freestyle.

In 2020, Saucier would compete on Stadium Championship Series Yellow. During the series, he would win the racing and skills challenge championships in the series' opening event in San Diego and would later win the overall event championship. In Oakland, he tied Camden Murphy for the win in the skills challenge, but since Camden put up the score first, he would take the win. He would later win racing championships back-to-back in both Houston events, as well as an overall event championship on Sunday. Meanwhile, Steven Sims would fill in for him for the series' Anaheim events, and would ultimately finish 4th in the standings after the series was cancelled due to the pandemic. After Monster Jam temporarily ceased all operations in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Saucier would briefly depart FELD Motorsports following Stadium Championship Series Yellow. He would later join Loose Cannon Racing, where he drove Fast Metal at the Bloomsburg 4 Wheel Jamboree Nationals event as well as at Lucas Oil Speedway.

In 2021, Saucier continued to drive Fast Metal throughout the season. Meanwhile, Saucier would drive for various other independent teams, such as Overkill Evolution for an event in Senoia, Georgia and Samson for a Monster Truck Throwdown show in Salem, Ohio.

In 2022, Saucier returned to FELD Motorsports and moved to Dragon for Arena Championship Series East, due to Monster Energy's contract being expired. He would notably have a rivalry with rookie driver Weston Anderson throughout the series, who would win the series, while Coty finished 3rd on the tour. Coty would get an invite to World Finals XXI, where he would be the second fastest qualifier, although be eliminated in round 2 in his first race. He would later go out first in freestyle, putting on a great starting run and finished in 11th.

In 2023, Saucier would continue to drive in arenas, this time on Arena Championship Series Central. In Providence, Rhode Island, rookie Brandon Arthur filled in for Coty after he tested positive for COVID-19 after Washington D.C. and would later finish 5th in the final standings. He will drive El Toro Loco for the remaining shows on Stadium Tour Blue to replace Mark List. He would later be invited to World Finals XXII in Nashville, Tennessee. There, he finished as the second fastest qualifier and received a bye into round 2 of racing as a result, however Dragon was beaten by Brandon Vinson's Grave Digger at this stage. In San Juan, he did an encore after 3 trucks were unable to freestyle at one of the shows.

In 2024, Saucier competed predominantly on Arena Championship Series East before he briefly drove Max-D for the last 5 stops on Stadium Championship Series East. Joe Dennis and Tony Ochs would share driving duties for Dragon in Coty's absence for the remainder of Arena Championship Series East. In April, he drove Grave Digger in Lincoln, Nebraska as a fill-in for Tyler Menninga. Dragon would finish 4th in the final standings with Joe Dennis finishing the tour at the final points shows in Colorado Springs. He would be invited to World Finals XXlll in Los Angeles, returning to Dragon for the event.

In 2025, Saucier competed on the West arena tour for the first time since Amsoil Series West in 2016. He was also mentioned in a sale when an unknown buyer bought the Gunslinger truck and name. Coty finished 3rd in the final standings. He would be invited to compete at the World Finals.
