Monster Trucks Wiki

Chris Bergeron (born November 10th, 1966) is a retired monster truck driver out of Columbus, Michigan. He was the original and longest serving driver of Brutus. He was also known for his wild antics and attitude, much like his mentor and boss Jim Koehler. He has competed in six World Finals events from 2005-2012 with the exceptions of 2008 and 2010.

Career[]

Chris began driving in 2001 as a teammate to Avenger.

In 2002 at Pontiac, Chris pulled out of his spot to freestyle and a wheel just came off. This is the only known time this has happened.

In 2004, Bergeron made his first television appearance in Houston, and became a mainstay on Monster Jam television for the next decade.

During his early TV appearances, Bergeron would become well-known for pulling power wheelies after accelerating off the line in racing. An example of this was in 2005 in New Orleans, Brutus pulled a wheelie & drifted in Gunslinger's lane & they collided, which flipped Gunslinger & popped a tire. This left Hartsock very angry, although he understood what happened though.

In 2006, Chris drove Metallic Mayhem for the 25th Anniversary 4-Wheel Jamboree show in Indianapolis.

In 2007, Chris drove Spike Unleashed at the 4-Wheel Jamboree,

In 2008, Chris garnered most of his wins and success even becoming a prominent racer. Chris drove Equalizer on his Brutus chassis at the Nebraska State Fair later that year.

From 2009-2011, Chris drove General Tire. At World Finals XII, Chris failed a backflip, landing on his roof.

In 2012, he would be invited to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XIII where he would qualify 17th. In racing, he would lose in round 1 by Marc McDonald in El Toro Loco. In freestyle, he would get 8th place with a 26. In August, he would drive Mega Bite in Monroe, Michigan. At Dixie Speedway in Georgia, he won everything while driving Brutus.

Chris would step down from full time driving in 2013, however 2015 saw him appear back behind the wheel driving Over Bored in Saginaw, Michigan, though for a fill-in.

In 2016, Chris drove Wild Side as a fill-in.
