Chad Tingler (born March 23rd, 1974) is a monster truck driver out of Stuart's Draft, Virginia. He currently drives for Over Bored Motorsports, but has driven a plethora of trucks, such as Grave Digger, Hooked and Over Bored.
Career[]
In 2003, Chad started his career driving Backdraft in Moline, Illinois.
In 2004, Chad drove Ragin' Steel, and Pure Adrenalin for Randy Brown, serving as a fill-in when Brown drove Grave Digger. Later that year, he drove Mobile Hunting & Camping Supply in Mobile, Alabama on Randy Brown's Pure Adrenalin chassis.
In 2005, Chad drove Safe Auto Minimizer for its debut season. In May, he drove Power Forward in Virginia Beach, which marked the final event for the truck. In November, he drove Inferno at the Friday show in Stockholm, Sweden.
In 2006, Chad moved to Grave Digger and made his World Finals debut driving Pastrana 199 at World Finals VII. In September, he drove Blue Thunder in Arnhem, Holland.
From 2007-2008, Chad drove Monster Mutt Dalmatian at World Finals VIII and IX respectably.
At World Finals IX, he set a record with the highest score coming out first in freestyle at the World Finals with a 32. This record would eventually be tied 3 years later by Cam McQueen.
In 2009, Chad drove Taz for an injured Adam Anderson at Monster Jam World Finals X after crashing in Thunder Alley. In a twist of irony, Tingler himself would dislocate his shoulder upon impact with the bus.
From 2010-2012, Chad drove Spider-Man at World Finals XI, XII and XIII.
In 2010, Chad drove Monster Mutt in Philadelphia on Grave Digger 14 which would be the truck's final event as he would destroy the truck in a wreck.
In 2011, Chad drove Mohawk Warrior in the third show in Arnhem, Holland.
In 2015, Chad would drive Zombie in Perth, before he would move to the new Alien Invasion truck and return to the World Finals the following year. He would still however, drive Grave Digger as a fill-in for a handful of events.
In 2017, Chad drove El Toro Loco at the Sunday show in Providence. Chad then started exclusively driving in Monster Jam international events with Alien Invasion. In Riyadh, he drove Monster Mutt Dalmatian for the first and so far, only time outside of the World Finals. In August, he drove Dragon in Kallang, Singapore.
In 2018, he switched to Megalodon, which he continued to run until 2021, where he drove Stone Crusher for the Raleigh shows. He would drive Stone Crusher for the rest of 2021 and ran it on the 2022 Monster Jam Points Championship Series Arena East, finishing 5th.
In May of 2022, Chad suffered a back injury while driving Hooked in Virginia Beach. He later returned to the truck in the summer for two Monster Jam events in New Orleans and Sunrise, then in Concord for the Back to School Bash.
In 2023, Chad would return to Zombie, this time using Hooked's chassis on the East Arena Tour, and finished 6th.
In 2024, Chad drove Over Bored in Monster Jam alongside Zack Garner in Wild Side on Arena Championship Series East while Jamey was campaigning El Toro Loco. He would finish 5th in the final standings. In May, he was invited to the Last Chance Qualifying event at the World Finals where the red Over Bored body would return. In July, he would debut The Wrecker (a truck themed after Jamey Garner's tow trucks) in Evansville, Indiana for the Summer Smash shows. In August, he drove The Black Pearl in Cincinnati, where he would win sky wheelies at show 1.
Trivia[]
- Chad is the only known driver to start the World Finals freestyle competition 2 years in a row & in the same truck (2007 & 2008).
- The Black Pearl marked the 32nd truck that Tingler has driven, placing him 5th all time in number of trucks driven by a single driver.
