Calvin Robert Carrington (June 9th, 1956-February 19th, 2006) was an American monster truck owner and driver out of Worcester, Massachusetts. He was best known as the founder and team owner of Wildfire Motorsports from its inception in 1993, until his tragic death in 2006.

Career[]

In 1991, Calvin Carrington buys the War Wagon truck, only to sell it the following year.

In 1992, Calvin buys Bad Boy, converting it into Distant Thunder, and would sell it the following year.

In 1994, Calvin purchased the third Buffalo Tremor chassis and would convert it into the first Wildfire. He would drive the truck, before piloting several wrestling theme trucks including Austin 3:16 from the late 1990's to early 2000's, and finally the Full Throttle monster truck.

In 1996, Calvin began driving Undertaker.

In 2000, Calvin drove The Rock. In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he drove Austin 3:16 & Big Red Machine.

In 2004, Calvin and his wife moved to Boston, Georgia, along with his operation.

Death and legacy[]

On February 19th, 2006, Calvin and another man were accidentally struck by a sport utility vehicle in the pits during the 42nd Annual National Rod & Custom Car Show and Monster Truck Races at Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A sheriff said he died in the hospital.[1][2]

After his death, fellow teammate Rob French would continue operations of the team up until his retirement 2022.

Carrington's widow Kelly would later compete in The Amazing Race 21 with Rob and finished in 7th place.
